Job Interview Preparation and Interview Tips

Have you ever been stumped by an interview question? “What’s your best Weak spot?” is my personal favorite. That perplexes everyone! You quickly choke up and get that deer in the headlights look in your face… you can even feel your entire body freeze. You experience a lack of focus, flitting from thought to thought, and you begin speaking without realizing what you’re saying.

Keep in mind that being nervous and anxious because you want the interview to go well is a completely normal reaction. The rationale for preparing for a job interview is that it will reduce the stress of the interview because you will know the questions or, at the very least, the type of questions requested. The more you adhere to, the higher you may rise.

Success is dependent on prior preparation, and failure is almost certain if such preparation is not made.

Confusious

1. Overcome the Freeze Reaction

The hiring manager simply asked you a question that you are not prepared to answer right now. You may notice your body freezing in place…

You’re starting to lose focus…

It happens to everyone. If you’re fine, try these tricks to overcome the freeze response and refocus your attention so you can answer the question without stress.

Concentrate your attention on a single point…

This works because it appears as if you are thinking about your response before speaking. Try something behind the hiring manager’s back or to the side. If at all possible, refrain from trying on. One of the simplest ways to do this is to scan the room as soon as you enter it and find something within the room that you can use to consider your options. In this way, if a freeze response occurs, you will have already practiced.

Concentrate on your breathing.

Once you’ve centered your eyes, you want to slowly consume and take a deep breath. To the hiring manager, it appears that you are concentrating, and it will focus your breath so that it does not appear brief or nervous. This also works well in the reception area while you wait to be called into the office or meeting room because it automatically slows your heart rate. As a result, Yoga and Pilates, as well as other stretching exercises, require you to concentrate on your breathing.

Consider physically touching an object.

If your respiratory and focus systems aren’t working, use your sense of touch to calm yourself. I understand this may sound strange, but I always wear jackets with buttons on the outside. When I’m feeling anxious or overwhelmed, I rub the buttons, and it appears to restore my sense of well-being.

2. They will not hire you solely on the basis of your appearance.

I’m sorry to say that unless you’re a mannequin, no one will hire you based solely on your attractiveness. By preparing for and walking into a job interview prepared, you will demonstrate key points of any interview: persona, confidence, enthusiasm, constructive and excellent communication abilities. Hiring managers want to know how you will fit into their culture.

3. You will be aware of the appropriate questions to ask.

Did you forget that you could also ask questions? Guess what you might be able to! Actually, it is a must. One of the most important aspects of a job interview is asking questions that will help you identify what they need and help them see what you can provide. Asking the right questions at the right time will help you get that second (and hopefully not third) interview!

4. You will be self-assured.

Most importantly, the more you save, the more confidence you will have. My advice is to never say no to an interview, even if you do not need the job; it is all good practice that you will put to use sooner or later.
